The "new" Redfish Island was finally completed early in 2003.  Here's some guidance on how to get there from the Clear Lake area.  There's only one small area of sandy beach on the island... it's mostly medium to larger sized rocks.  I've been told it shoals pretty quickly from about 8-9 feet to about 4 ft. or less when you get in close... watch out.  It's not nearly as big as it used to be... kinda crowded.   There's also not much protection from the wind if it is coming more from about SSE around to about NW.

From the #4 marker in the Clear Creek channel, the route is 5.7nm, 108deg magnetic.  There are a number of small rigs and piling in between so watch out.

Here's a closer look - the chart for the "new" Redfish Island has not yet been issued.  This chart still shows it as a "shoal".  The "new" Redfish Island is represented by the red line.  The red flags show the exact location of the north and south tips of the new island.  Beware that the shoals still exist!

This chart from the US Army Corps of Engineers shows marker locations and water depths as of December 2002.   605kb... redfish1.jpg (619360 bytes)
