5th Annual BARR Side of the Bay - Dog Days of Summer - Pirate Toga Party Raftup

July 17, 2004: Well, we pulled off the 5th (YES 5th) annual BARR summer raftup.  We plundered and pillaged the anchorage at Clifton's and Noah's Ark till the wee hours of the morning.  The following morning we had to break up the raft of pirate ships due to a wind shift.  We'll have some photos of this BARR non-event online soon.  PHOTO'S ONLINE NOW

BARR Boat Delivery!

When an esteemed BARR non-member buys a boat in some far flung tropical location, it is the duty of the BARR non-officers to help him get her home.  Consequently, a BARR non-outing will be held May 5 - 16 to bring S/V Carina, a Morgan 43 BARR boat from Fort Lauderdale, FL. back to Clear Lake, TX.  We're non-planning a brief stop in the Dry Tortugas.  We'll share the story and some photos here.

Update: Well, the S/V Carina was sucessfully delivered from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Kemah, TX.  She arrived early on 5/16/04 and is now safely tucked in her berth at Portofino.  Here's the full story.

BARR New Year in Double Bayou

Four BARR non-members rang in the new year in Double Bayou.  As usual we had a good time building a fire ashore and exploring in the dinghies.  It was the usual funky fare in Double Bayou - we checked out the dead floating pigs (next to the old floating refrigerator, of course) and took in the beautiful shoreline executive homes along the way.  Photos here.

Oct 9-11, 2003 17th Annual Harvest Moon Regatta

Well, the BARR made a grand showing at the 2003 Harvest Moon Regatta.  We are really ashamed of our results... here's the final report for the BARR Harvest Moon Regatta 2003.

4th Annual BARR Side of the Bay "Dog Days of Summer" Raft-Up

Saturday, August 2nd

Well, a good time was had by all at the "BARR Side of the Bay 4th Annual "Dog Days of Summer" Raft-Up.  More photos will be online soon, but here's a few to start with...PHOTOS!

Reports from 2002:

3rd Annual BARR Side of the Bay Raft-Up

2002 Harvest Moon Regatta (Galveston to Port Aransas)

Well, S/V Four Sail was trucking right along up until about 2am on Friday morning about 10 miles offshore between Freeport and Matagorda when my stem head fitting gave way.  This ended our so called "racing", but fortunately did not really do any harm to anyone nor the boat.  We limped in to Matagorda and motored back to Clear Lake.  Oh well, it happens!  2002 HARVEST MOON REGATTA & RESULTS

Reports from 2001:

2001 Harvest Moon Regatta

Well - two BARR boats made the trip successfully... S/V Four Sail and S/V Illusion (both Catalina 36's).    S/V Four Sail WON (BARR style, of course) by difinitively clinching DFL in our class - three others did not finish or qualify.  I'm not sure yet where S/V Illusion finished, but they crossed the finish line just ahead of us (in a different class).  Illusion crew was spotted partying in Port A on Saturday.  The HMR 2001 BARR story.

BARR Christmas Boatlane Parade - 2000

June - August 2000 Reports: Fishin' photos online now.  See the big, bad momma kings caught on the June 2000 S/V Solstice fishing excursion.  Unfortunately we had to use good drinkin' rum to calm these babies down once they got on board - but we did manage to make it to Freeport with rum to spare!

September 2000 Reports: September 1-4 Labor Day - Offats Bayou Run: S/V Four Sail had a good trip down to Offats - it was HOT!  101 in Galveston on Monday - it was 109 in Houston - an new record high for Houston.  We anchored out during the day and docked at the Landings at night for the cool comfort the AC provided.  We did discover some shoaling in the Offats channel at low tide - check out the Offats Bayou local knowledge section for the latest update.
